Industrial 3D Printing: FDM vs FGF vs LSAM
Industrial buyers typically evaluate three additive platforms: filament FDM for precision and speed, pellet FGF for material cost and throughput, and LSAM gantry or robot cells for meter-scale composite tooling.
When to choose FDM
Enclosed FDM systems such as the C6-FDM and C9-FDM lines excel at fine features, engineering filaments (ABS, ASA, PC), and servo-driven speeds up to 600 mm/s. Build volumes from 600 mm to 1200 mm class suit jigs, fixtures, and end-use components.
When to choose FGF (pellet)
FGF prints 1–5 mm pellets directly, reducing material cost versus spooled filament. C6-FGF through C16-FGF cover medical, architectural, and industrial part sizes with enclosed chambers and high-temperature options on HT models.
When to choose LSAM / robots
C40 gantry LSAM offers customizable 4000 × 2000 × 2000 mm strokes with P36/P45/P55 heads. Robot lines add milling and grinding for hybrid additive/subtractive workflows.
